Seminar on November 17th

November 11, 2009

Next seminar we’ll deal with the linguistic competence as described  by ISEI-IVEI.  As you already know, developing key competences is an important issue in our curriculum. Since we are involved in developing both content and foreign language I think that we should be particularly aware of what is involved in developing the linguist competence. In addition to that, I hope we’ll be able to start wikiing together!

February 17th seminar: Diagnostic Assessment

February 18, 2009

Just a few words to sum up our seminar contents: Diagnostic Assessment in Spain.

First of all the ISEI-IVEI website. There we can read about linguistic competence, its dimensions and get  test samples to measure students’ competence in Basque and Spanish.

On the MEC website we can get the the report of the evaluation carried out in 2001 in which   secondary students’ level of English was measured.

On Educastur website we can get samples, specifications and reports of the English test they used to assess students’ competence in oral English.

Other than that, we consider very useful to examine Bergen cando levels: they may be used for the students’ portfolios but also they can provide us with ideas to use in our own assessment schemes.

Finally, Cambridge ESOL exam resources. By the end of their compulsory education students should be able to get a B1 level according to the Common European Framework.  Cambridge PET exam measures just that level and free samples and explanations of the way the exam is carried out, specifications of the language required etc. may be downloaded .
